Canadian Government Notices for Jan 17-19

The Government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices for January 17-19, 2012 (note that some may also be given separate headlines)

  • Non-U.S. electronic export reporting. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) provided information on its new Mandatory Electronic Export Reporting Policy for export shipments destined for non-U.S. destinations, which is targeted for implementation on April 1, 2012. On that date, CBSA will take steps to eliminate the manual reporting process form (Export Declaration, Form B13A) and implement mandatory electronic reporting.   • Keystone XL Pipeline. The Minister of Natural Resources made a statement addressing the recent "set back" on the Keystone XL Pipeline. The Minister highlighted the fact that Canada exports 99% of its oil to the U.S. and the importance of diversifying and expanding the market for these exports. (here)
  • Food recalls. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced that the Loblaw Companies Limited is voluntarily recalling their choice organics infant cereal due to rancid odor and taste. (here)
  • Product Recalls. “ERTL” brand wagons, trikes and wheelbarrows manufactured in China (here)
