HTS Codes in AES Updated for WCO Changes, Grace Period thru Mar 4
The Census Bureau has issued an AES Broadcast stating that effective immediately, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule tables in the Automated Export System have been updated to accept the changes to the 2012 codes, which largely result from World Customs Organization (WCO)-recommended changes that became effective in the HTS on February 3, 2012.

One-Month Grace Period in AES and AESDirect for Outdated HTS Codes
Census states that AES will accept shipments with outdated HTS codes during a grace period which ends March 4, 2012. Reporting an outdated code after the 30 day grace period will result in a fatal error. The AESDirect program has been updated with the February 3, 2012 codes and will accept shipments with outdated HTS codes during the grace period as well.
AESPcLink Users Must Update Their Code Tables for Schedule B and HTS
All AESPcLink users must update their AESDirect code tables to reflect the 2012 changes in Schedule B and HTS.
Web users of AESDirect who file via the website at www.aesdirect.gov will have their code tables updated via the program automatically.
