APHIS Updates Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) Manuals
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has updated the following PPQ electronic manuals through February 2, 2012 (since the last update dated January 26, 2012):

- Fruits and Vegetables Manual. The online version of the Fruits and Vegetables Manual and the FAVIR database have been updated: 1) Clarified the entry requirements for chayote and cucurbits from several countries into the United States. 2) Mexico: added a papaya orchard, Rancho El Rocio in the municipality of Frontera Hidalgo, to the Chiapas papaya export program, removed a papaya orchard, El Prado in the municipality of Tapachula, from the Chiapas papaya export program, revised one commodity in the National Agriculture Release Program (NARP) (02/02/2012) (here)
- Miscellaneous and Processed Products Import Manual. The online version of the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Import Manual has been changed: 1) Table 3-116 Nuts—unprocessed nuts out of their husks, shelled or unshelled, from OTHER THAN Canada or Mexico change: changed action language in the fifth cell of the fifth column (Then:) 2) Table 3-154 Seeds (OTHER THAN nuts) that are processed (seeds with hulls removed), or manufactured into articles change: footnote indicator #1 has been added to the second, tenth, and eleventh cells of the first column (If the seed or nut is:); new footnote #1 text has been added at end of the table 3) Table 3-192 Temperate hardwood logs, burls, cants, crossties, stumps, sticks, branches, or wood vines NOT meeting universal importation options change: “sticks” and “branches” have been added to the table title 4) Table 3-193 Softwood logs, burls, cants, crossties, stumps, sticks, branches, or wood vines change: “sticks” and “branches” have been added to the table title. - Manual for Agricultural Clearance. The Manual for Agricultural Clearance has been revised to do the following: 1) Add San Antonio International Airport to the list of airports approved by USDA to remove regulated garbage 2)Update the phone number for the Detroit, MI Identifier’s office. - Animal Product Manual. The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual: 1) Page 3-8-2; Table 3-8-4; Table 3-8-7; Table 3-8-8; Table 3-8-9; and Table 3-8-10 change: contact information for the CDC has been corrected 2) Figure 3-13-2 List of APHIS-Approved Italian Prosciutto (Ham) Processing Plants change: “Prosciuttificio” has been deleted from 7th row, second column; last row has been corrected 3) Figure 3-13-3 List of APHIS-Approved Italian Prosciutto (Ham) Deboning Plants change: plant numbers 23/L and 442/L have been deleted; plant numbers 649/L, 2109/L, and Y6L19 have been added 4) Figure 3-13-4 List of APHIS-Approved Italian Prosciutto (Ham) Slicing Plants change: plant numbers 649/L, 2109/L, and D9C5P have been added 5) Table H-1-2 List of PPQ-AQI-VMO change: (page 1 of 2) “Southern Florida” has been added to the first column, first cell; contact information in the third column, first cell has been corrected; “Arizona” has been added to the first column, last cell; (page 2 of 2) contact information in the second column, fourth and fifth cells has been corrected; contact information in the third column, fifth cell has been corrected.
