U.S., Mexico & Canada Leaders Announce Plans to Slash Red Tape, Etc.
A new trilateral effort to get rid of outdated regulations was announced by President Obama, President Caldron of Mexico, and Prime Minister Harper of Canada at a joint press conference in Washington on April 2, 2012. President Calderon singled out the need for deregulation in nanomaterials and emissions standards for some vehicles in particular.

Leaders Agree to Coordinate Work on Infrastructure, Border Management
President Calderon also announced an agreement between the three countries to work in a coordinated fashion on actions that will be adopted to modernize infrastructure and for border management. Calderon noted that the last two years have seen the opening of three new border crossing areas between the U.S. and Mexico, after ten years of not having seen one new route.
Global Supply Chains, Clean Energy, TPP Also Discussed
The three leaders also stated, among other things, that they held discussions on managing borders, streamlining regulation, securing global supply chains, and advancing clean energy, and President Calderon and Prime Minister Harper reiterated their interest in joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
