DoE Seeking Comments on Three Applications for Authority to Export LNG

The Department of Energy is seeking comment on several applications to export liquefied natural gas (LNG), including:

  • One filed Sept. 21 by CE FLNG, LLC for multi-contract authorization to export up to 8 million tons per annum of domestically produced liquefied natural gas, or about 391 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of natural gas per year, over a 30-year period. The LNG would be exported from the proposed CE FLNG LNG terminal in Plaquemines Parish, La. The natural gas will come from direct connects with the interstate pipelines of Tennessee 500 leg, SONAT, Transcontinental, Gulf South and several intrastate pipelines in Louisiana (here).
  • One filed Oct. 5 by Excelerate Liquefaction Solutions I, LLC (ELS), requesting long-term, multi-contract authorization to export up to 10 million metric tons per annum (mtpa) of domestically produced LNG, or about 1.33 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day, for a period of 20 years. ELS seeks authorization to export this LNG by vessel from the terminal it intends to construct, own, and operate in Calhoun County, Texas (here).
  • One filed Oct. 26 by Golden Pass Products LLC for long-term, multi-contract authorization to export domestically produced LNG equivalent to 740 billion cubic feet (Bcf) per year, or about 15.6 million metric tons per annum (mtpa), for a period of 25 years. The LNG would be exported from the existing Golden Pass LNG Terminal (Golden Pass Terminal), a facility located in Sabine Pass, Texas. (here)
