CBP Says India is Country of Origin for Ponstel

CBP said it issued a final determination of the country of origin of Ponstel (mefenamic acid) capsules, deciding that India is the country of origin for purposes of U.S. government procurement. Parties have until Feb. 8 to seek judicial review of the final determination.

The determination was issued at the request of West-Ward Pharmaceutical Corp. CBP concluded that mefenamic acid from India, blended with excipients and packaged into dosage form in the U.S., was not substantially transformed in the U.S., so India is the country of origin of the finished Ponstel.
