CBP Giving More Time to Comment on Information Collection on Administrative Rulings
CBP is providing another 30 days to comment on a proposal to extend a previously approved information collection the issuance of administrative rulings, it said in a Federal Register notice scheduled for Jan. 9. Comments will now be due Feb. 8.

CBP is proposing that this information collection be extended with no change to the burden hours. The initial Federal Register notice was Nov. 6. Comments should be addressed to the OMB Desk Officer for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security, and sent to oira_submission@omb.eop.gov. CBP said the information collection is necessary to enable it to respond to requests by importers and others for the issuance of administrative rulings on the interpretation of applicable laws involving classification, marking, and country of origin. It estimates 12,000 respondents, with an average of 10 hours per respondent, plus, for appeals, 200 respondents at an average of 40 hours each.
