Any person who engages in the U.S. in the business of manufacturing or exporting defense articles, defense services, or related technical data is required to register with the U.S. Department of State. Registration does not confer any export rights or privileges, but it is a precondition to the issuance of any license or other approval for export, it said. It also said a number of documents, services, and links are now available online at the DDTC website, www.pmddtc.state.gov.
