USPS Resumes First Class Mail Delivery to Census Bureau

The U.S. Postal Service will resume delivery of First Class mail to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Foreign Trade Division, the Bureau said July 1 in a bulletin. The postal service had discontinued delivery June 24 (see 13062413). First class mail should be available by July 8, the bulletin said. The Census Bureau didn't comment.

According to a message the Bureau initially issued to inform the public of the discontinued delivery, first class mail includes all personal correspondence, bills, statements of accounts, and “all other matter sealed or otherwise closed against inspection with postage.” For inquiries over recent mail sent to the Foreign Trade Division through the postal service, contact the Bureau’s Regulations Outreach and Education Branch at 1-800-549-0595, option 3.
