APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for July 18

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes July 18 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Postentry Quarantine Manual: The following changes were made to the Postentry Quarantine Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed below.

Appendix A Directory of PPQ Quarantine Liaison Officers

  • Corrections were made to the contact information for Georgia

Appendix C Directory of SPROs and State PEQ Contacts

  • Corrections were made to the contact information for Iowa

Appendix E Plant Genera Subject to Postentry Quarantine

  • Page E-1 - "Plants NOT Authorized Pending Pest Risk Analysis (NAPPRA)" was added
  • Page E-2 through Page E-3 - new text was added to accompany NAPPRA information
  • Table E-1 Plant Genera Subject to Postentry Quarantine - NAPPRA language was added for the following plant materials: Acacia spp.; Actinidia spp.; Aesculus spp.; Hibiscus spp.; Juglans spp.; Juglans ailantifolia var. cordiformis; Juglans x bisbyi = J. ailantifolia x J. cinerea; Juglans cincerea; Juglans x intermedia = J. nigra x J. regia; Juglans jamaicensis; Malus spp.; Pyrus spp.; Pinus spp. (2- or 3-leaved); Prunus spp.; Punica granatum; Punica protopunica; Pyronia spp.; Pyrus spp.; Quercus spp.; Rosa spp.; Rubus spp.; Salix spp.; Sorbus spp.; Ulmus spp.; Ziziphus jujube; Ziziphus lotus; and Ziziphus mauritiana
