Commerce Department Sponsors Development Mission To Mexico
The U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker on Aug. 6 announced her intention to lead a November business development mission to Mexico aimed at uncovering new U.S. business opportunities in the country and strengthening existing commercial ties, according to a Commerce Department press release. The release emphasized the importance of Mexico as a destination for U.S. products.

“Exports are an essential component for spurring growth and creating jobs in America,” said Secretary Pritzker. “The United States and Mexico have strong business ties and increasing opportunities for trade and collaboration between our two nations will help bolster economic success across our border.”
According to the department, Mexico is the second largest export market for the U.S. and the third largest trading partner. More than $1.25 billion in goods and services is exchanged daily between the U.S. and Mexico, the release claimed, noting that 22 U.S. states depend on Mexico as the first or second destination for exports. That relationship creates millions of jobs in both countries, according to the department.
The development mission will make stops in Mexico City and Monterrey and extend Nov. 18-20. According to the release, the mission will emphasis enhancing U.S. export capacity in the advanced manufacturing, information and communications technology, health IT and medical devices sectors, among others.
