APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Aug. 26

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Aug. 26 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

FAVIR and Fruits and Vegetables Manual: FAVIR (here) and the Fruits and Vegetables Manual (here) were revised. The reason for the revision was to add cabbage and Brassica spp. to the list of commodities admissible from Canada. Changes in the manual are located on page 3-58.

Manual for Agricultural Clearance: The online Manual for Agricultural Clearance (here) was revised to include information on reshipment of cargo that failed cold treatment. Changes, indicated by black change bars in the left page margin, are on the following pages:

  • Chapter 2: Examining and Monitoring Cargo: Section 1: Clearing Imported Cargo and Inspecting Cargo Holds: Pages 2-1-21 and 2-1-22.
