APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Aug. 29

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Aug. 29 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Postentry Quarantine Manual: The following changes made to the Postentry Quarantine Manual (here) reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed below.

Chapter 1 Introduction

  • Page 1-4 - language was added

Chapter 2 Preparations

  • Page 2-1 - chapter table of contents was updated
  • Page 2-2 - permit language was changed
  • Page 2-5 - permit language was changed and NEW "Controlled Import Permit for Postentry Quarantine" section was added

Chapter 3 Growing Site Inspections

  • Page 3-2 and 3-5 - permit language was corrected

Chapter 4 Inspecting Quarantine Material

  • Page 4-3 - permit language was corrected

Chapter 5 Description of Postentry Quarantine Material Release Procedures

  • Page 5-1 - language was added to #5

Chapter 6 Responsibilities of State and Federal Inspectors

  • Page 6-1 - language was corrected

Appendix D Violations of the Postentry Growing Agreement

  • Page D-3 - #9C permit language was corrected
  • Table D-1 Instructions for completing a Report of Violations (PPQ Form 518) - language under #21 was corrected

Appendix F Forms and Permits

  • Page F-1 - chapter table of contents was corrected
  • Page F-17 - "PPQ Controlled Import Permit for Postentry Quarantine" was added
