APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Sept. 3
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Sept. 3 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Treatment Manual: The USDA APHIS PPQ Treatment Manual (here) was revised. The expiration date for the methyl bromide Section 18 crisis exemption has been extended to September 30, 2013. The change is located on page 2-3-4.
FAVIR and Fruits and Vegetables Manual: FAVIR (here) and the Fruits and Vegetables Manual (here) were revised. The reason for the revision was to add apples and pears to the list of commodities admissible from Italy. These commodities have met the requirements of 7 CFR 319.56-22 to establish preclearance programs in Italy. Changes in the manual are located on page 3-169.
