APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Oct. 17

Canadian Agricultural Clearance Manual: The online Canadian Border Agricultural Clearance Manual (here) was revised to update the list of facilities approved to clean Canadian seed. Changes, indicated by black change bars in the left page margin, are on page D-5 of Appendix D: Approved Establishments.

Approved Phytophthora Facilities List: The Approved Hosts of Phytophthora ramorum Facilities (here) list was updated, 09/2013-05, to add two new facilities to the list. The new facilities are registry no. 20684 and registry no. 32805.

Agricultural Clearance Manual: The online Manual for Agricultural Clearance (here) was revised to update the information on unused meals carried aboard aircraft in galleys. Changes, indicated by black change bars in the left page margin, are on page 3-2-9 of Chapter 3: Examining Carriers: Section 2: Clearing Aircraft.

Taiwan Phalaenopsis Facilities List: The list of Approved Facilities Authorized to Export Phalaenopsis in Growing Media from Taiwan to the U.S. (here) was updated, 10/2013-21, to add the names and numbers of new growers and the locations and numbers of new greenhouses. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:

• Page 1: Added grower no. 70-PS-086 and greenhouse no. 70-PS-086-01
• Page 2: Added grower no. 70-PS-085 and greenhouse no. 70-PS-085-01
• Page 4: Added greenhouse no. 50-PS-009-02
• Page 5: Added greenhouse no. 70-PS-006-07
• Page 6: Added grower no. 50-PS-048 and greenhouse no. 50-PS-048-01; added greenhouse no. 50-PS-001-08
• Page 8: Added greenhouse no. 70-PS-021-08

Seeds Not For Planting Manual: The Seeds Not for Planting Manual (here) was updated, 10/2013-64, to revise Table 3-32, Millets and Pseudo Millets. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin, are on page 3-35.

Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual: The following changes were made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The changes are listed below.

• Table 3-3 Allium spp. - NEW second row ("Frozen") was added; footnote #2 was added to the table
• Table 3-10 Avocado--frozen - "INSPECT and RELEASE" was added to the fourth column (Then:), second and fourth cells; footnote #1 was added to the table
• Table 3-49 Citrus--frozen, unpeeled fruit or fresh or frozen peel - "INSPECT and RELEASE" was added to the fourth column (Then:), fourth cell; footnote #3 was added to the table
• Table 3-81 Frozen fruits and vegetables (whole, sections, or sliced; puree or pulp) - footnote #4 language was adjusted
• Table 3-112 Mango--frozen - "INSPECT and RELEASE" was added to the fourth column (Then:), second and fifth cells; footnote #3 was added to the table
• Pages Glossary-7 and Glossary-8 - "fresh, cut fruit" and "fresh fruit salad" and their definitions were added to the glossary

PPQ Identifiers and Specialists List: The List of PPQ Identifiers and National Specialists (here) was updated, 10/2013-06, to add an identifier's information. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin, are as follows:

• Page 11: Added new plant pathologist's area of coverage, name, and contact information to Miami Plant Inspection Station

Costa Rica Dracaena Facilities List: The list of Approved Facilities Authorized to Export Dracaena spp. from Costa Rica to the Continental U.S. (here) has been updated, 10/2013-13, to remove facilities from the list. Finca San Miguel de la Tigra/Miguel Sandi Hernandez, registry no. 2682, were removed.

Hawaii Manual: The USDA APHIS PPQ Hawaii Manual (here) was updated to include procedures for growers and stakeholders to follow when requesting new market access for fruits and vegetables to other parts of the United States. Revisions, located on pages 3-1 through 3-5 are indicated by black change bars in the left margin.
