APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Oct. 21

Taiwan Phalaenopsis Facilities List: The list of Approved Facilities Authorized to Export Phalaenopsis in Growing Media from Taiwan to the U.S. (here) was updated, 10/2013-22, to change a greenhouse location and to change a grower's name. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:

• Page 1: Changed the location for Chi Yueh Enterprise LTD, 70-PS-086 to Wanluan Township, Pingtung County
• Page 2: Changed the name of grower 70-PS-063 from Zhuang, Min-Li to Chuang, Min-Li

Hawaii Manual: The USDA APHIS PPQ Hawaii Manual (here) was updated to add specific import requirements for the importation of Sharwil avocado into the continental United States from Hawaii. (Docket # APHIS-2012-0008, effective October 15, 2013) Revisions, located on pages 3-6 through 3-7 are indicated by black change bars in the left margin.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes were made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed below.

Chapter 3-4 Bones and Related By-Products

• Table 3-4-5 Gelatin OTHER THAN Bulk Gelatin or Empty Gel Caps - language was added to the first column (If the product is:), third cell; material was added to the first column (If the product is:), fourth cell; material was added to the sixth row in all columns; language was added to footnote #3; NEW footnote #6 and footnote #7

Chapter 3-5 Casings and Related By-Products

• Page 3-5-2 under Certification heading - paragraph was edited

Chapter 3-8 Live Animals and Related Material

• Table 3-8-17 Monoclonal Antibodies, Ascitic Fluid, and Tissue Culture Supernatants - language was added to first column (If:), first cell
• Table 3-8-18 Test Kits and Kit Components - language was changed in the first column (If:), first cell
• Page 3-8-18 under Test Kits and Kit Components heading - former second paragraph was edited

Chapter 3-11 Foreign-Origin Poultry Meat and Meat Products

• Figure 3-11-1 Approved Mexican Poultry Processing Plants - TIF Establishment #483 was added
• Table 3-11-4 Carcasses of Game Birds from a Country or Region of Origin Known to be FREE from HPAI, BUT Affected with END or Transited a Country or Region Known to be Affected with HPAI or END - language was changed in the fourth column (Then:), first cell; NEW footnote #3 was added to the table
• Table 3-11-9 Perishable Poultry Pate AND the Pate Also Contains Pork or Pork Products (Including Unrendered Fat) OTHER THAN Lard - footnote reference language was amended in the first column (If the country or region of export is:), second cell
• Table 3-11-20 Cooked, Shelf-Stable Poultry and Fowl Meat or Meat Products, Fresh (Chilled or Frozen) Meat or Meat Products, or Rendered Poultry Fat from Canada - NEW third column (And:) was added; "Game birds" was given its own row and direction; NEW third column (And:), second and third cells have new language; new language in the fourth column (And the importation is:), fourth and fifth cells; NEW footnote #2 was added to the table

Chapter 3-13 Foreign-Origin Swine Meat and Meat Products

• Figure 3-13-7 APHIS-Approved Mexican Swine Processing Plants, Fresh Swine Meat - TIF Establishment #483 was added

Appendix H List of Veterinarians

• Table H-1-1 PPQ-QPAS-VRS-Headquarters Personnel Contact Information - FAX number for PPQ Headquarters was corrected
• Table H-1-2 PPQ-AQI-VMOs - Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont were moved to Dr. Chaudhry's covered territory; Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island were moved to Dr. Yeh's covered territory
