APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Dec. 30-31

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Dec. 30-31 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual: The Reference chapter in the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual (here) was "significantly" reorganized. Each commodity is now listed under a larger grouping. For example, Allium spp. is no longer listed alphabetically within the chapter, but, rather, is incorporated into a larger table consisting of all fruit and vegetables (fruit and vegetables are subdivided by processing method, i.e., frozen, fresh precut, dehydrated, etc.).

Pelargonium Facilities List: The list of Approved Pelargonium spp. Facilities authorized to export Pelargonium spp. cuttings to the United States (here) was updated, 12/2013-15, to add new certification end dates and to change addresses. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:

  • Page 1: Changed the certification end dates for El Salvador facility; changes addresses and certification end dates for Ethiopia facilities
  • Page 2: Changed the certification end dates for 3 Kenya facilities; changed the certification end date for the Spain facility

Seeds Not for Planting: The Seeds Not for Planting Manual (here) was updated, 12/2013-65, to change a facility's certification end date. The revision, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin, is on the following page:

  • Page 3-42: Changed certification end date to 12/31/2014 for IMCO Agro Industries PLC
