APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Jan. 30
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Jan. 30 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Treatment Manual: The USDA APHIS PPQ Treatment Manual (here) was revised. The expiration date for the methyl bromide Section 18 crisis exemption has been extended to Feb. 28, 2014. The change is located on page 2-3-4.
Fruits and Vegetables Manual and FAVIR: The Fruits and Vegetables Manual (here) and the FAVIR database (here) were updated. There were several reasons for the update:
- Revise the import requirements for fresh blueberries from Chile. [Federal Order DA-2014-07]
- Add two commodities, apricot and avocado, to the list of admissible commodities from Spain [Docket # APHIS-2011-0132 and Docket # APHIS-2012-0002; effective January 30, 2014]
- Update the list of approved tomato greenhouses in Arava Valley, Israel
