APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Feb. 11

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Feb. 11 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Approved Taiwan Phalaenopsis Facilities: The list of Approved Phalaenopsis spp. in Growing Media Facilities that are authorized to export Phalaenopsis spp. from Taiwan to the United States (here) was updated, 02/2014-23, as of Jan. 23, 2014, to add the new grower and greenhouse numbers and to remove two greenhouses. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:

  • Page 1: Added greenhouse no. 70-PS-069-02; added grower/greenhouse no. 50-PS-051-01
  • Page 2: Added greenhouse no. 50-PS-030-02
  • Page 3: Added grower/greenhouse nos. 70-PS-090-01, 50-PS-050-01, 70-PS-088-01, 70-PS-089-01
  • Page 4: Added grower/greenhouse no. 70-PS-091-01; added greenhouse no. 70-PS-046-05

Postentry Quarantine Manual: The following changes were made to the Postentry Quarantine Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections.

Appendix A Directory of PPQ Postentry Quarantine Liaison Officers

  • Table A-1 Directory of PEQ Liaison Officers (page 2 of 6) - CA plant inspection station information was updated

Appendix E Plant Genera Subject to Postentry Quarantine

  • Page E-1 - link and language to the Plants for Planting Manual was added and previous appendix data was deleted
