APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for March 24

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes March 24 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Approved Spodoptera Facilities List: The list of Approved Spodoptera spp. Facilities authorized to export Spodoptora (except bulbs, dormant perennials, and seeds) from Israel to the U.S. (here) was updated, 03/2014-04, to add the names of new facilities and to remove facilities.

  • New nurseries: Botanica #671; Yevolei Hakfar #677
  • Removed nurseries: A B #588; Ben-Zur #410; Cohen Man #590; Mitzpor #455; Sanker #638; Schwartz #451

Animal Product Manual: The following changes were made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. Specific changes and corrections are listed below.

Chapter 3-2 Avian Products

  • Page 3-2-18 under Poultry Meat and Meat Products heading - language has been added
  • Table 3-2-12 Poultry Meat and Meat Products When VS Permit Does NOT Authorize Entry - language has been added in footnote #1
  • Page 3-2-29 NOTICE table under Bouillon Cubes, Broth Containing Poultry, Meat Extract, Powdered Chicken Meat, and Dehydrated Powders or Granules of Poultry Origin heading - language has been added
  • Table 3-2-20 Bouillon Cubes of Poultry Origin, Broth Containing Poultry, Meat Extract of Poultry Origin, Powdered Chicken Meat, and Dehydrated Powders or Granules of Poultry Origin - language has been added in footnote #1

Chapter 3-3 Bovine Products

  • Table 3-3-2 Bovine Products Locator - (page 3 of 3) second cell, fourth column (And;) footnote reference has been changed to #6; language has been added to footnote #3; NEW footnote #6 has been added to the table

Chapter 3-5 Casings and Related Products

  • Table 3-5-11 Swine Casings Originating in a Foreign Country FREE from ASF - table reference has been corrected
  • Table 3-5-12 Natural Swine Casings from a Country FREE from ASF, AND Processed in a Country OTHER THAN the Country of Origin - first cell, second column (And the casings:) has been revised; table reference in third cell, second column (And the casings:) has been corrected; table reference in third cell, last column (Then:) has been added
  • Table 3-5-14 Casings from a Country of Origin Known to be FREE from ASF, AND Processed at an Approved Foreign Establishment in an ASF-AFFECTED Country - first cell, second column (And:) has been revised

Chapter 3-16 Ovine and Caprine Products

  • Table 3-16-2 Ovine and Caprine Products Locator - language has been added in footnote #1

Chapter 3-17 Ruminant Products

  • Multiple corrections/revisions throughout the chapter

Chapter 3-19 Swine Products

  • Page 3-19-4 second NOTICE table - language has been added
