USTR Reports on Elimination of Trade Barriers in Foreign Markets
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) released three reports that detail the Obama Administration's successes in breaking down trade barriers in foreign markets, USTR said in a March 31 press release. The Report on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Barriers to Trade (here), the Report on Technical Barriers to Trade (here) and the National Trade Estimate Report (here) all show the Obama Administration’s opening of international markets for U.S. companies, said USTR.

“Trade has been an important part of the United States’ economic recovery, and it is a critical component of President Obama’s forward-looking strategy to unlock opportunities that will create jobs, promote growth and strengthen the middle class,” said USTR Michael Froman in the release. “Over the last five years, we have expanded and intensified trade enforcement efforts, making clear that the Obama Administration is prepared and willing to go to the mat for American workers and businesses. The National Trade Estimate report plays an important role by shining a spotlight on significant trade barriers that our goods and services exporters face.”
