APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for March 31

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes March 31 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Treatment Manual: The USDA APHIS PPQ Treatment Manual (here) was revised. There were several reasons for the revision:

  • Revised the list of commodities approved for treatment as a FIFRA section 18 quarantine exemption (Table 2-3-1 on page 2-3-4)
  • Added aeration guidelines for FIFRA section 18 fumigations (Table 2-4-11; pages 2-4-37 through 2-4-40)
  • Revised the list of commodities approved for treatment using T104-a-1 and T104-a-2 (pages 5-2-65 through 5-2-68)

Animal Product Manual: Changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. Specific changes and corrections are listed below.

Chapter 3-11 Human Pharmaceuticals and Human Vaccines

  • Table 3-11-3 Human Pharmaceuticals, Human Vaccines, Antivenom, Dietary Supplements, Organs and Their Derivatives, and Nutriceuticals Containing Animal-Derived Components - table has been replaced

Chapter 3-14 Milk/Milk Products

  • Table 3-14-2 Milk or Milk Products NOT Authorized by a VS Permit (page 2 of 2) - typo has been corrected

Chapter 3-20 Trophy Products

  • Table 3-20-8 Ruminant Trophy Bones - typo has been corrected

Appendix H List of Veterinarians

  • Page H-1-4 under VS-AVIC heading - Web site address has been corrected
