APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for May 1
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes May 1 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual: The following changes have been made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information. The individual changes are listed below.
Chapter 3 Reference
- Table 3-12 Bags, bagging, and covers used to hold or cover coffee (page 1 of 2) - former first column has been deleted; table revised to address only Hawaii and Puerto Rico
- Table 3-107 Coffee (Coffea spp.) - table has been completely revised
- Table 3-135 Processed seeds locator - "coffee" has been deleted from the third bullet, in the last cell, of the first column (If the seeds are:)
- Table 3-137 Seeds (OTHER THAN nuts) that are processed (seeds with hulls removed) or manufactured into articles - "coffee" has been deleted from the second cell of the first column (If the seed is:); language in footnote #3 has been revised
Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. Specific changes are listed below.
Chapter 3-2 Avian Products
- Pages 3-2-28, 3-2-30, 3-2-33, 3-2-34, and 3-2-35 - "69 degrees" has been changed to "74 degrees"
Chapter 3-9 Gelatin
- Table 3-9-2 Gelatin Locator - "Marine (fish)" row has been added to the table; NEW footnote #4 added to the table; language in footnote #5 has been revised
Chapter 3-19 Swine Products
- Table 3-19-38 Fresh (Chilled or Frozen) Swine Meat from a Country or Region Considered SVD/SR - bulleted list in footnote #1 has been revised
Chapter 3-20 Trophies
- Page 3-20-1 under Contents heading - chapter table of contents has been updated
- Table 3-20-2 Trophies Locator - table reference in the second cell of the last column (Then:) has been revised
Glossary
- Page Glossary-1-36 - "pet bird" definition has been revised
