APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Oct. 15
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Oct. 15 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:
Chapter 3-17 Ruminant Meat
- Table 3-17-16 Cooked Ruminant Meat and Meat By-Products from a Country Known to be Affected with FMD ONLY OR at Negligible Risk for FMD - (page 2 of 2) footnote #3 has been changed
- Table 3-17-17 Cooked Ruminant Meat Identified as an IQF Product from a Country Known to be Affected with FMD ONLY - #1 in the first cell of the last column (Then:) has been changed to "CBP Form AI-629"; footnote #2 has been corrected
- Page 3-17-33 under Action to Take Based on Pink Juice Test Results heading - NEW last sentence has been added
- Table 3-17-18 Regulatory Action Based on Pink Juice Test Results - #2 in the first cell of the last column (Then:) has been added
Appendix J Completing and Distributing Forms
- Page J-1-3 - NEW CBP Form AI-629 heading and figure have been added
- Page J-1-4 - NEW CBP Form AI-629 purpose and instructions have been added
- Page J-1-6 - VS Form 16-78 purpose, instructions, and distribution information have been corrected
