APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Nov. 19

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Nov. 19 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Plants for Planting Manual: The Plants for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, 11/2014-30, to change the entry for Triticum spp., all propagules except seeds, to prohibited/not authorized from all countries except Canada. The revision is on page 4-487.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed below.

Chapter 2-4 Special Procedures

  • Table 2-4-10 Match Information on the VS Permit with Shipping Documents - language in #2 of the second cell in the last column (Then:) has been changed

Chapter 3-15 Miscellaneous Biological Products: Micro-Organisms, Cell Culture, Test Kits, and Biosynthesized Materials (Including Vaccines)

  • Table 3-15-4 Micro-Organisms and Their Products - language has been added to the bullet list in footnote #1

Appendix G Certificates and Forms

  • Figure G-1-29 Polish Official Meat Inspection Certificate for Fresh Meat and Meat By-Products Exported to the USA - this document has been replaced with an updated version
