CBP Sees Bump in October Customs Broker Exam Pass Rate

Some 34 percent of those who took the October 2014 customs broker license exam passed the test, said Paula Connelly, a Boston-area customs lawyer who teaches an exam preparation class. Connelly said she learned of the passage rate through her participation in a CBP-led broker exam working group. CBP didn't comment.

The October passage rate, up from 29 percent on the April exam, continues a recent uptick in such rates, she said. The April 2013 pass rate was 4.4 percent (see 13060603), and in April 2012 it was around one percent (see 12052432). The agency recently allowed an additional half-hour for test takers to complete the exam (see 14082010).
