APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Jan. 8

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Jan. 8 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Miscellaneous and Processed Products: The following changes have been made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information:

Chapter 2 Procedures

  • Page 2-8 under Special Procedures--Inspecting Containerized Cargo Packaged in Jute or Burlap heading AND Table 2-3 Determining sample size for bagged cargo AND Page 2-17 in footnote #3 - khapra beetle-endemic countries Web site link and/or address has been added

Appendix C Directory of SPROs and State PEQ Contacts

  • Table C-1 Directory of State Plant Regulatory Officials and State PEQ Contacts (page 6 of 6) - contact information for the State of Washington has been updated

Seeds Not for Planting: The Seeds Not for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, 01/2015-71, to update the list of countries affected with khapra beetle. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:

  • Page 3-3: Deleted the previous footnote and added a link to the list of Countries Affected With Khapra Beetle
  • Pages 3-7, 3-18, 3-19, 3-49, 3-55: Updated the listed countries
