  • CBSA announces coming into force of Combating Counterfeit Products Act. The CBSA has announced the coming into force of the Combating Counterfeit Products Act which establishes a process that allows intellectual property rights holders to file requests asking the CBSA to temporarily detain suspected counterfeit gods.   • SED Systems wins contract for exports from Saskatoon. The Minister of State Lynee Yelich announced that SED Systems on its $11.7 million contract to supply General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada with power control modules and is the largest manufacturing export contract in Canadian history.   • North Atlantic Organics to receive funding to expand. The Harper Government has announced it is awarding $165,000 to North Atlantic Organics Ltd. which harvests local storm tossed seaweed for an organic dietary supplement for animal feed and will allow the company to expand its facilities, purchase new equipment as well as allow the company to focus on exports to the north eastern United States.   • Restriction on live birds, eggs, raw poultry products, raw pet foods from Oregon and Washington. The CFIA has announced it is implementing measures to protect Canada’s poultry resources from an outbreak of avian influenza and have prohibited all poultry products from entry from the states of Oregon and Washington into Canada.
