APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Jan. 13

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Jan. 13 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:

Chapter 2-3 Clearing Regulated Passenger Baggage

  • Page 2-3-1 under Materials Needed heading - language has been revised
  • Page 2-3-1 under Introduction heading - bullet list has been revised
  • Page 2-3-2 top of the page, second bullet and last bullet - language has been revised
  • NEW Table 2-3-2 Determine if the Importation is Admissible Under a VS Permit - table has been replaced
  • Page 2-3-5 under Degree of Processing heading - ovine and caprine language has replaced "ruminant" language in the second paragraph; a NOTICE box has been added
  • Page 2-3-6 first full paragraph - language has been revised
  • Page 2-3-8 under Destination heading - link at the bottom of the paragraph has been corrected; under Name and Description of the Importation heading - language has been revised
  • Page 2-3-9 under Step 4: Inspect the Importation heading - language has been revised
  • Page 2-3-10 last paragraph under Step 5: Take Final Regulatory Action heading - language has been revised
  • Page 2-3-11 #2 in numbered list - language has been revised
  • Page 2-3-12 #5 in numbered list - link reference has been corrected
  • Page 2-3-13 under Action on Importation NOT Consigned to an Approved Establishment or Warehouse, BUT Needs to Be heading - link in #2 of the second number list has been revised; "APHIS" has been added in the second NOTICE box
