- Canada fights U.S. buy America restrictions at Port of Prince Rupert. The Minister of International Trade Ed Fast has announced that an order has been signed under the Foreign Extraterritorial Measures Act which will assert Canada’s right to prevent compliance with the Buy America provision for the State of Alaska’s project to replace a ferry terminal on land it leases in Canada. - Canada promotes itself as a strong trading partner at World Economic Forum. The Minister of International Trade Ed Fast is at the annual World Economic Forum at Davos to discuss and promote new opportunities under the Canada-European Union Trade Agreement. (here)
- Harper Government supporting Novel food products using pulses. The Harper Government is investing $950,000 in pulse research, which will help the Canadian international Grains Institute identify new uses for high protein legumes and will increase Canada’s market share in the global market place. - Canada-Ukraine trade mission. The Canadian Government has announced it is sending a trade and development mission to the Ukraine on January 25 to 26 to help improve trade, economic and social conditions in Ukraine. (here)
