Gildan Requests Removal of Three-Thread Knit Fleece Fabrics from CAFTA Short Supply List
Gildan filed a request on Feb. 25 with the Commerce Department’s Office of Textiles and Apparel to remove two three-thread circular knit fleece fabrics from the short supply list under the Central America-Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement (here). The company says it is able and willing to produce the fabrics in commercial quantities. The fabrics are classifiable under HTS subheading 6001.21 it said.

Under short supply provisions of DR-CAFTA, fibers, yarns, and fabrics that are not available in commercial quantities from suppliers in the U.S. may be placed on the short supply list in Annex 3.25. A textile or apparel good imported into the U.S. containing fibers, yarns, or fabrics that are included on the list in Annex 3.25 is treated as if it is an originating good, regardless of the actual origin of those inputs.
