Canadian Government Notices for March 23

The government of Canada recently issued the following trade-related notices for March 23 (note that some may also be given separate headlines):

  • Canada-U.S. preclearance agreement. The Governments of Canada and the United States announced this week they have come to terms on an agreement on land, marine and air transport preclearance which will expedite the flow of trade and travel while maintaining border security. (here)
  • Canada-India Trade. The Minister of International Trade Ed Fast was in India to meet with the Indian Minister of Finance Arun Jaitley to discuss the Canada-India economic partnership and ways to strengthen the relationship. (here)
  • Agricultural Minister concludes travel to South Korea and Japan. The Minister of Agriculture Gerry Ritz traveled to South Korea to urge the government to lift their temporary ban on beef from Canada. The Minister also traveled to Japan to discuss and encourage ways the two countries can benefit from free trade along with events centered on showcasing the benefits of Canadian beef to Japanese importers.
