APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for March 26

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes March 26 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Miscellaneous and Processed Products: The following changes have been made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information:

Chapter 3 Reference

  • Table 3-7 Used bags, bagging, and covers locator - "or other animal products or by-products" has been added to the third cell in the first column (If the cloth or burlap held or covered:)
  • Table 3-12 Bags, bagging, and covers used to hold or cover fresh or frozen meat or other animal products or by-products table title has been changed; VS-NIES name has been corrected and Web link updated in the second column (And consigned to:); CFR cites have been corrected throughout the table
  • Table 3-38 Corn fodder, silage, or stover harvested in a country OTHER THAN Canada APM chapter reference has been corrected in the second and fourth cells in the fourth column (Then:); CFR cites have been corrected; and "VS" has been added to footnote #1
  • Table 3-50 Wheat straw (EXCEPT that intended for decoration or as an ingredient in potpourri) - contact information has been changed in the third cell of the third column (Then:); VS-NIES name has been corrected; CFR cites have been corrected; and FMD language has been added to footnote #3
  • Page 3-44 paragraph above NOTICE table - FMD language has been added to the paragraph
  • Page 3-47 under Hay, Fodder, Silage, Stover, and Straw heading - FMD language has been added to the end of the first paragraph
  • Table 3-64 Hay, fodder, silage, stover, and straw (various herbage of plants cut and cured for forage) that is NOT a Federal noxious weed (FNW) - CFR cites have been corrected; APM chapter reference has been corrected
  • Table 3-140 Goat skins, lamb skins, and sheep skins - CFR cites have been corrected throughout the table
