APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for April 6

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes April 6 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:

Chapter 2-2 Procedures

  • Page 2-2-4 under Animal Product/Animal By-Products On Hold Shipment Release Request heading - the term "form" has been changed to "application" in sixth bullet

Chapter 3-1 Introduction

  • Table 3-1-2 Manual Reference Locator - (page 2 of 4) footnote indicator #2 has been added to second-to-last cell, second column (And is:); (page 3 of 4) footnote indicator numbering has been updated; (page 4 of 4) NEW footnote #2 has been added

Chapter 3-2 Avian Products

  • Table 3-2-2 Avian Products Locator (page 2 of 2) - footnote indicator #1 has been added to third cell, first column (If:); NEW footnote #1 has been added

  • Table 3-12 Bags, bagging, and covers used to hold or cover fresh or frozen meat or other animal products or by-products - table title has been changed; VS-NIES name has been corrected and Web link updated in second column (And consigned to:); CFR cites have been corrected throughout the table
  • Table 3-38 Corn fodder, silage, or stover harvested in a country OTHER THAN Canada - APM chapter reference has been corrected in second and fourth cells in the fourth column (Then:); CFR cites have been corrected; and language has been added in footnote #1
  • Table 3-46 Rice--milled products - footnote #3 has been moved; NEW third, fifth, and sixth rows have been added
