APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for May 7

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes May 7 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:

Chapter 3-19 Swine Products

  • Page 3-10-1 under Contents heading - "Cooked Swine Meat from Poland" heading has been moved
  • Table 3-189-13 Cooked Swine Meat from Poland - table has been moved to a new location in the chapter

Appendix A Guide to Entry Status of Animal Products in Passenger Baggage or Mail

  • Page A-1-26 footnote #6 - language has been revised
  • Page A-1-34 under Importations of Beef from Japan in Passenger Baggage heading - language has been revised
  • NEW Figure A-1-3 Example of Official Meat Inspection Certificate for Chilled/Frozen Meat and Meat By-Products (pages 1 and 2 of 2) - figure has been replaced

Appendix H List of Agricultural Marketing Services (AMS) Regional Offices

  • Table H-1-3 VS National Import Export Services (NIES)--VS Headquarters - personnel list has been updated
