APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for May 20
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes May 20 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:
Chapter 2-1 Procedures, Preparation
- Page 2-1-2 under Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) heading - language has been added to the first paragraph
- Page 2-1-2 under Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) heading - "bats" has been added to the first bullet; VMO language and hyperlink to Appendix H has been added to the sub-bullet; sentence has been added after final bullet
- Page 2-1-2 under Customs and Border Protection (CBP) of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) heading - language has been revised
- Page 2-1-3 under Fish and Wildlife Service of the Department of the Interior (FWS) heading - language has been added after bullet list
- Page 2-1-3 under Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) heading - "or humans" has been added to the first bullet; language has been added after the last bullet
- Page 2-1-3 under Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) heading - first paragraph has been replaced; language has been added in the second paragraph
- Page 2-1-6 under Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) heading - language has been revised
- Page 2-1-7 under Newcastle Disease (ND) heading - paragraph language has been revised
- Page 2-1-7 under Rinderpest (RP) heading - paragraph language has been revised
- Page 2-1-9 under How the Degree of Processing Related to Meat and Poultry and Meat and Poultry Products heading - heading title revised; language in paragraph has been revised
- Page 2-1-10 under #3 - temperature language has been added
- Page 2-1-11 under Shelf Stability heading - language in second paragraph has been revised
- Table 2-1-3 Container Properties Describing Both Those That ARE and ARE NOT Hermetically Sealed and Shelf Stable - headings in both columns have been revised
