APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for June 8

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes June 8 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Seeds Not for Planting: The Seeds Not for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, 06/2015-77. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:

  • Page 3-10: Added a footnote to husk
  • Page 3-11: Moved figures of coconut cross sections to the same page; added husk includes epicarp and mesocarp to a figure title
  • Page 3-12: Added a footnote to husk in Table 3-7
  • Page 3-13: Added a footnote to husk in Table 3-8
  • Page 3-39: Added a new company and revised the name of an existing niger (Guizotia abyssinica) seed facility
  • Page 3-40: Deleted a name
  • Page 3-41: Revised the name and address of an existing facility for heat treatment of niger seed; added a new facility's name and address; added certification end date for both facilities
  • Page 3-52: Deleted a name
