APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for June 25

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes June 25 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Plants for Planting: The Plants for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, 05/2015-36. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin, are as follows:

  • Page 4-96: Added to Chaenomeles spp. all propagules except seeds, import permit when from Canada
  • Page 4-142: Added to Cydonia spp. all propagules except seeds, import permit when from Canada
  • Page 4-283: Added to Malus spp. all propagules except seeds, import permit when from Canada; deleted United Kingdom from specific sampling requirement
  • Page 4-388: Added to Prunus spp., all propagules except seeds, require import permit when from Canada
  • Page 4-390: Added to Prunus Africana, all propagules except seeds, import permit when from Canada
  • Page 4-391: Added to Prunus geniculate, all propagules except seeds import permit when from Canada
  • Page 4-393: Added to Prunus laurocerasus, all propagules except seeds import permit when from Canada
  • Page 4-402: Added to Pyrus spp. all propagules except seeds import permit when from Canada
  • Page 4-424: Added to Rubus spp., all propagules except seeds, when from Canada must be accompanied by an import permit; 7 CFR 319.37-5(e) phytosanitary certificate with A.D. or if lacking requires postentry
  • Page 4-425: Added to Rubus fruticosus, wild blackberry complex; commercial cultivars are not included in this restriction; added to Rubus moluccanus, wild raspberry
  • Page 4-427: Added to Rubus spectabilis all propagules except seeds, when from Canada must be accompanied by an import permit; 7 CFR 319.37-5(e) phytosanitary certificate with A.D. or if lacking requires postentry
  • Page 4-508: Revised Vitis spp. import permit requirement when from Canada

Seeds Not for Planting: The Seeds Not for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, 06/2015-77. The certification end date for approved heat treatment facility for niger seed, ETO Sterilization, has been changed on page 3-41.
