APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Nov. 6-9

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Nov. 6-9 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Phytophthora Facilities List: The Approved Facilities for Hosts of Phytophthora ramorum list (here) has been updated, 11/2015-14, to add registry numbers 20103 and 23876 to the list.

Plants for Planting: The Plants for Planting Manual (here) has been updated 11/2015-40. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:

  • Page 1-2: Added under "What the Manual Covers" to seeds "(for growing, increase, or planting, for sprouting, sprouting seeds)" with a footnote "sprouting seeds that are not sprouts, a ready-to-eat food"
  • Page 1-3 Added under "What the Manual Does Not Cover" types of seeds and sprouts with references to the manuals where they are covered
