BIS Sanctions China, Hong Kong Parties Over Defense Shipments to Iran

The Bureau of Industry and Security added Beijing-based (Jack) Wang Wei, as well as six of his companies, to the Entity List over Wei’s alleged supply of U.S.-origin items to an Iranian defense industry associate and “an Iranian party whose customers include companies designated by the Department of Treasury as Specially Designated Nationals,” BIS said in a notice (here). Wei is listed under China and Hong Kong. The sanctioned companies are as follows:

Separately, BIS removed the following entries from the Entity List:

  • Weihai New Era Chemical Industrial (China)
  • Able City Development (Hong Kong)

BIS also modified addresses and aliases for 10 entries on the list, which informs informs the public of entities that have allegedly engaged in proliferation. BIS requires license for exports to these entities, but the agency typically denies license requests. License exceptions for transactions with companies and individuals on the Entity List are very rare, the agency says.
