APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Jan. 8-11

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Jan. 8-11 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Treatment Manual: The USDA APHIS PPQ Treatment Manual (here) has been updated to add mango from the Dominican Republic to the commodities approved for irradiation using T105-a-2 (Federal Order DA-2016-03). Changes are located on page 5-2-73.

Fruits and Vegetables: The Fruits and Vegetables Manual (here) and the Fruits and Vegetables Import Requirements (FAVIR) database (here) have been updated to align with Federal Order DA-2016-03, issued 01-07-16. The Federal Order amends the restrictions on imports of certain commodities from approved provinces in the Dominican Republic. Changes in the manual are located on pages 3-295 and 3-298.

Canadian Border: The Canadian Border Agricultural Clearance Manual (here) has been revised to update the example of CFIA Form 1327, Phytosanitary Certificate (Canadian origin) in Figure A-5. The change, indicated by a black change bar in the left page margin, is on Page A-11 of Appendix A: Certificates, Other Forms, and Permits.
