APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Jan. 12

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Jan. 12 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Seeds Not for Planting: The Seeds Not for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, 01/2015-88. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin, are on the following pages:

  • Page 3-34: Added Pennisetum spp. and cross-reference to millets and pseudo-millets table
  • Page 3-36: Identified four Pennisetum as Federal Noxious Weed seeds, changed authority to 361.6 and added assessment of Pennisetum from Australia; for other Pennisetum seeds changed permit to 587
  • Page 3-37: Added Federal Noxious Weed seeds to the four species listed and changed authority to 361.6; for other Pennisetum from all countries other than listed above changed permit to 587 forPennisetum other than listed above
