DEA Cancels Plans to Temporarily Add Kratom Opioids to Schedule I Drug List

The Drug Enforcement Administration said it no longer intends to temporarily add the opioids mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, both found in the increasingly popular drug kratom, to Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act (here). The agency will now consider public comments, due Dec. 1, and a Food and Drug Administration scheduling recommendation before deciding how to schedule the drug.
