FDA to Ban Use of Potassium Perchlorate in Food Containers
The Food and Drug Administration will no longer allow the use of potassium perchlorate as a food additive in closure-sealing gaskets for food containers, it said (here). The additive is no longer used for that reason, it said, agreeing with a petition filed by the Society of the Plastics Industry. The final rule takes effect May 4. Corrections or requests for a hearing are due June 5.
