  • Creation of new NAFTA Advisory Council on the Environment. Minister of Environment and Climate Change Catherine McKenna announced the creation of a 10-member NAFTA Advisory Council on the Environment, with representatives from politics, law and indigenous tribes tasked with advising the minister as Canada looks to strengthen environmental protections in a modernized NAFTA.
  • Balance of international payments for the second quarter of 2017. Statistics Canada reports that Canada’s current account deficit widened by $3.4 billion in the second quarter to $16.3 billion, as the deficit on international trade in goods expanded.
  • NAFTA textile/apparel TPL utilization. The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade updated the 2017 NAFTA textile and apparel tariff preference level utilization rate for imports and exports.
  • Product Recalls: Bombardier Recreational Products recalls specific Evinrude E-TEC G2 150-300 HP outboard motor models manufactured in the U.S., for serious injury or death hazard; Reitmans Canada-Thyme Maternity recalls certain models of nursing tops manufactured in China and India, for laceration hazard; Hallmark Canada recalls itty bittys brand stuffed animal stacking toy manufactured in China, for choking hazard.
