The government of Canada recently issued the following trade-related notices as of Sept. 15 (some may also be given separate headlines):

  • Canada’s international financial asset investments for Q2 2017. Statistics Canada is reporting that Canada’s international financial asset investments increased by $25.7 billion in the second quarter to $271.5 billion, reflecting a fourth consecutive quarterly advance.
  • Implementation of CETA. The Canada Border Services Agency issued Customs Notice 17-30 to announce that the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) will be implemented on Sept. 21, 2017.
  • Canada to invest in market expansion for Northern Ontario farmers. The Government of Canada announced it is investing $317,160 to help Northern Ontario farmers innovate and expand or increase sales and exports from their region, through the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor).
  • Product Recalls: Southwire Canada Company recalls Moonrays Large Mystic Globe Stake Lights and Moonrays Winter Framed Snowglobe Lights manufactured in China, for staining and singing hazards; Sage Products LLC recalls Toothette Oral Care Mouth Moisturizer and Advanced Oral Moisturizer Spray manufactured in the U.S., for potential contamination; Target recalls Room Essentials 4-drawer dressers manufactured in Denmark, for tip-over and entrapment hazards.
