  • WTO upgrades forecast for 2017 as trade rebounds strongly. WTO economists have issued a strong upward revision to their forecast for 2017 trade expansion following a sharp acceleration in global trade growth in the first half of the year (here).
  • Australia gives AUD 1.4 million to help developing countries participate in global trade. The government of Australia is contributing over AUD 1.4 million (CHF 1.1 million) to WTO trade-related programmes to help developing countries and in particular least-developed countries (LDCs) participate in multilateral trade negotiations and better access global markets (here).
  • Ukraine files WTO complaint over Kazakhstan steel duties. Ukraine has requested WTO consultations with Kazakhstan regarding anti-dumping measures levied by Kazakhstan on certain types of steel pipes imported from Ukraine. The request was circulated to WTO members on Sept. 21 (here).
  • WTO members review Korea-Colombia, Korea-India trade agreements. WTO members reviewed the Korea-Colombia Free Trade Agreement and the Korea-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement at a meeting of the Committee on Regional Trade Agreements (CRTA) on Sept. 20. They also discussed the committee’s other work in terms of notifications of RTAs and consultations on the issue of following up on the 2015 Nairobi ministerial declaration regarding RTAs (here).
  • Trade Policy Review: Paraguay. The fourth review of the trade policies and practices of Paraguay takes place on Sept. 20 and 22. The basis for the review is a report by the WTO Secretariat and a report by the Government of Paraguay (here).
