Canadian Government Notices as of Oct. 4
The government of Canada recently issued the following trade-related notices as of Oct. 4 (some may also be given separate headlines):

- China hot-rolled carbon steel plate: Expiry review. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal on Oct. 3 initiated an expiry review of its order of Jan. 8, 2013, in Expiry Review No. RR-2012-001, to determine if the continued or resumed dumping of hot-rolled carbon steel plate from China is likely to result in injury. The next step is a determination by the Canada Border Services Agency, expected by March 2, 2018.
- Certain silicon metal: Notice of final decision. The Canada Border Services Agency terminated on Oct. 3 the dumping investigation with respect to certain silicon metal exported to Canada from Brazil by Rima Industrial S.A., ruling the goods were not dumped, and from Norway by Elkem AS (Elkem), as the margin of dumping was deemed insignificant. The CBSA also terminated the subsidy investigation with respect to certain silicon metal exported to Canada from Thailand by Sica New Materials Co., Inc. (Sica), and certain silicon metal originating in or exported from Thailand by all other exporters, as the amounts of subsidy were deemed insignificant. Also on Oct. 3, CBSA made final determinations of dumping with respect to certain silicon metal originating in or exported from Brazil, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia and Thailand, and subsidizing with respect to certain silicon metal originating in or exported from Brazil, Kazakhstan, Malaysia and Norway concerning exporters for which the dumping and/or subsidy investigation has not been terminated. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal is continuing its inquiry into the question of injury to the domestic industry and will make an order or finding by Nov. 2.
- Product Recalls: Edgewell Personal Care Canada, ULC recalls Playtex Mealtime plates and bowls manufactured in China, for choking hazard; UPPAbaby recalls UPPAbaby RumbleSeat adapters manufactured in China, for fall hazard.
