The government of Canada recently issued the following trade-related notices as of Oct. 23 (some may also be given separate headlines):

- Trade promotion in United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Minister of Natural Resources Jim Carr is traveling to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 23-25 to promote Canada as an attractive place for trade and investment, during several international events.
- First round of free trade negotiations with Pacific Alliance. Minister of International Trade François-Philippe Champagne is participating in the first round of free trade negotiations between Canada and the Pacific Alliance taking place Oct. 23-27, in Cali, Colombia. A free trade agreement with the Pacific Alliance offers the prospect to modernize and streamline existing bilateral agreements with all four Pacific Alliance countries (Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru), expand key aspects of these agreements, and include progressive trade elements, Global Affairs Canada said in an announcement. In June, Canada was invited to become an associate member nation in the Pacific Alliance.
- CFIA extends fee car for certain animal health export certificates. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced it has renewed until Sept. 30, 2019, its existing $75 per unit cap on service fees for certain animal health export certificates. This cap applies to export certification for live animals -- including swine, cattle, flightless birds, poultry, hatching eggs, horses, sheep and goats -- or mammalian embryos that do not require testing and inspection by the CFIA.
- Product Recalls: Spirit Halloween recalls feather angel wings manufactured in China, for fire and burn hazards; Spirit Halloween recalls Spirit Mini Slime manufactured in China, for potential unsafe level of boric acid exposure; Spirit Halloween recalls Spirit Lil’ Red Dragon costumes manufactured in China, for choking and entrapment hazards; Spirit Halloween recalls Spirit Flarp Noise Putty manufactured in China, for potential unsafe level of boric acid exposure; Firewood Vaporizers Inc. recalls Firewood 4 portable vaporizers manufactured in the U.S., for fire and burn hazards.
