Canadian Government Notices as of Jan. 17
The government of Canada recently issued the following trade-related notices as of Jan. 17 (some may also be given separate headlines):

- Certain carbon steel welded pipe: Expiry review investigation. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal on Dec. 8, 2017, initiated an expiry review of its finding made on Dec. 11, 2012, in Inquiry No. NQ 2012 003, concerning the dumping of certain carbon steel welded pipe originating in or exported from Taiwan, India, Oman, South Korea, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates, and the subsidizing of certain carbon steel welded pipe originating in or exported from India. The Canada Border Services Agency on Dec. 11, 2017, then initiated an investigation to determine whether the expiry of the finding is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and/or subsidizing of the subject goods. The CBSA will make a determination no later than May 7, 2018, and will issue a Statement of Reasons by May 22, 2018. As part of its expiry review investigation, the CBSA forwarded questionnaires to the Canadian producer, importers and exporters and to the Government of India. Any Canadian producers, importers or exporters who have not received a letter from the CBSA who wish to provide a response to the questionnaire are advised to contact: Patrick Mulligan (613-952-6720) or Aaron Maidment (613-948-4415). Responses to all questionnaires are due at the CBSA’s office in Ottawa by Jan. 16, 2018.
- Product Recalls: Avlon Industries Inc. recalls KeraCare Hydrating Detangling Shampoo (sulfate-free) manufactured in the United States, for bacterial contamination; Wal-Mart Canada Corp. recalls Parent’s Choice wooden blocks manufactured in China, for unsafe barium levels in packaging; FUJIFILM Canada Inc. recalls AC-5VF Power Adapter Wall Plugs included with certain digital cameras manufactured in China, for electric shock hazard.
